Requirements

To be admitted to one of the Master’s Degree-by-Research programmes, a person should have at least a good Second Class (Honours) degree, and to be admitted to the Doctoral Programme, a person should have a Master’s degree.

In both cases, the person should be able to demonstrate ability to pursue research in the selected field of study. A student entering the Master’s Degree-by-Research programme may apply for the Doctoral Programme after one year of favourable progress towards his Master’s degree.

Period of
Candidature

For a Master’s degree, the minimum period of candidature is one year while the maximum is three years. For the Doctoral degree, the minimum period of candidature is two years while the maximum is five years. Research scholarships may be available to outstanding candidates.
