BA (Architecture) Honours
The BA (Architecture) Honours degree course is the basis for basic education and training either in architecture or in related fields. The programme is centred in the Architectural Design Studios where students undertake design projects and exercises addressing a broad range of complexity and issues. In addition to the studio, students undertake a number of core and elective modules covering aspects of Technology, Environment Studies, History and Theory of Architecture and Urban Design etc.
This direct 4-year honours programme prepares students for the 1-year postgraduate Master of Architecture (March) course within the framework of a 5-year co-terminal professional degree programme.
Career Opportunities
BA (Arch) Hons graduates may join architectural firms or architectural departments of a government or statutory body. There are also opportunities in related fields such as interior design, industrial design, industrialized building systems, graphic design, commercial art and architectural journalism. The BA (Arch) Hons degree course does not in itself qualify graduates for registration with the Board of Architects. BA (Arch) Hons graduates may be considered for admission to the Master of Architecture course or other academic graduate studies.

BA (Industrial Design) Honours
The Industrial Design Programme focuses on issues that support the sustainability of the global environment. The unique quality of the programme is its pedagogic emphasis on a holistic approach to design thinking and practice. Integrative studio- based design projects provide opportunities for the rich exchange of ideas and synergy for design learning and development. It serves as the platform for students to be exposed to design issues involving engineering, business and marketing. Close collaboration with industry in the formulation and execution of projects enables students to develop the high level of professionalism demanded by the industry.
The programme is fully supported by extensive resource in traditional workshop facilities as well as equipment for digital media application and prototyping.
Career Opportunities
Given the level of development in Singapore, manufacturers are focused towards DESIGN to add value to production. The government through Design Singapore is also intent on making Singapore into a Regional Design Hub. One of the primary objectives of the Industrial Design programme in NUS is to prepare graduates with strength in design and product innovation. This will serve to enable graduates to fulfill the needs of Singapore and to brand Singapore as a ‘Design Centre’. There is considerable opportunity for graduates in Industrial Design to work in the design profession with design houses as well as manufacturers for the development of Singapore.
