The School of Design and Environment (SDE) has received the Best Overseas Research Partner Award from Beijing Vantone Citylogic Investment Corporation, to recognize its fruitful collaborations in the research projects carried out by the Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities and the Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition series. Through this award, Beijing Vantone Citylogic hopes to promote the awareness of the new paradigm of vertical urban development among the public.

The research projects supported by Beijing Vantone Citylogic at the Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities focus on the areas including urban indicator system, urban regeneration and space issues generated by combined functions in high‐rise mixed‐use building. Launched on 1 January 2011, the Vertical Cities Asia International Design Competition series was created to provide a platform for students from 10 universities from Asia, Europe and North America to research the various opportunities and challenges associated with the paradigm of high density and high capacity vertical cities in Asia and formulate appropriate sustainable solutions. It is organised by SDE annually, and sponsored by Beijing Vantone Citylogic and World Future Foundation.

Vice Dean (Research) A/Prof Fu Yuming received the award from Mr Roy Hao, CEO of Beijing Vantone Citylogic Investment Corporation, in Beijing, China.
