Welcome to the School of Design and Environment’s website.

The website seeks to showcase the many aspects of the School – from undergraduate and graduate programmes, research areas, and student and staff achievements, to name a few, to initiatives in the pursuit of sustainable solutions for the built environment.

For prospective students, the School offers relevant and challenging curricula in Industrial Design, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Project and Facilities Management and Real Estate.

Students can also enrich their academic experience and cultural exposure through our extensive student exchange programmes, field trips and close collaboration with the relevant industries and gain valuable hands-on industrial experience locally and overseas.

For those keen on furthering your interests in research, the School looks forward to guide and work closely with you on your aspirations to achieve research excellence centred on the School’s three key disciplines.

To facilitate learning and research, the School is equipped with high-tech and innovative facilities such as digital design studios, digital space labs and modeling workshops; and a state-of-the-art Field Environmental Chamber which was commissioned for studies in Total Building Performance. Our research is supported by five research centres.

Supporting our drive towards academic and research excellence is our pool of dedicated teaching staff who bring about a diversified melting pot of expertise, insights and inspiration.

It is our mission to impart in our students critical, relevant and professional skills required to address the most pressing issues of our time. We believe that by training you to think critically, design creatively and innovatively, plan intelligently, and manage efficiently, you would be able to contribute to your professions when you graduate and make a difference.

I am pleased to say that many of our graduates are to be found in leading positions in the public and private sectors, and international organisations. Some have played prominent roles in helping to shape Singapore’s landscape and in the development of the built environment as well as the advancement of the quality of urban living while others go on to lead extraordinary careers in industry and academia.

From its humble beginnings 50 years ago, SDE remains the only Faculty or School in a tertiary educational institution in Singapore responsible for offering education in Architecture, Urban design, Building, Project and Facilities Management, and Real Estate. During this period, we have produced over 5,000 graduates who have contributed to the design, development and management of the built environment both locally and internationally. We appreciate the continued support of our alumni with whom we maintain strong links, and have on numerous occasions offered their time and expertise and contributed to SDE’s development and partnerships within related industries.
